The Doing Right Spotlight Scholarship: Darrell Hunter II
Darrell Hunter II, on behalf of Ohio Logistics
Darrell Hunter II, a doctoral student pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at 黑料网, has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Doing Right Spotlight Scholarship presented by Ohio Logistics. Darrell maintains a 3.825 cumulative GPA and is expected to graduate in December 2026.
Throughout his academic and professional journey, Darrell has been driven by a simple but powerful belief: every student deserves to feel like they belong.
While working with first-year college students, Darrell noticed that many struggled with feelings of isolation and uncertainty as they adjusted to campus life. For some students, cultural differences, personal backgrounds, and unfamiliar environments created barriers that made them question whether they truly belonged in higher education.
Rather than accepting those challenges as part of the college experience, Darrell took action.
He developed a program called 鈥淲e Got You Here,鈥 a supportive space where students could openly discuss their experiences, share their stories, and build meaningful connections with peers facing similar challenges. The initiative was designed to help students find community, strengthen their confidence, and recognize that they were not alone in their transition to college.
The impact was immediate and meaningful.
Students who had once felt disconnected began forming friendships and support networks. Participants reported feeling more confident, more engaged, and more motivated to continue pursuing their educational goals. The program also provided valuable insight for faculty and staff, highlighting the importance of fostering environments where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.
For Darrell, the most rewarding aspect of the program was witnessing students discover a sense of belonging.
鈥淗elping others realize their potential is incredibly meaningful to me because I understand how powerful support and encouragement can be in shaping someone鈥檚 future,鈥 Darrell shared in his scholarship application.
His passion for service is deeply rooted in the lessons he learned growing up. Encouraged by his parents to value education and recognize its transformative power, Darrell developed a strong commitment to helping others access the same opportunities and support systems that contributed to his own success.
As he continues his doctoral studies, Darrell remains focused on expanding initiatives that center on mentorship, belonging, and community building. His long-term goal is to lead educational institutions where empathy, service, and student support are fundamental priorities.
He envisions creating innovative programs that connect students with mentors, experiential learning opportunities, and supportive communities that help them thrive both academically and personally. Through these efforts, he hopes to foster environments where students not only succeed but also develop a desire to support and uplift others.
Darrell鈥檚 dedication to building inclusive communities and empowering students reflects the values celebrated through the Doing Right Spotlight Scholarship. By creating spaces where individuals feel supported, valued, and connected, he is helping shape a future where more students have the confidence and encouragement needed to reach their full potential.
The scholarship will support Darrell as he continues his doctoral studies and advances his mission of creating positive, lasting change through education and service.
